I’ve recently bought a 2014 CRF250X, the bike runs great but I’m having trouble when I start it from cold, it starts straight away on choke which I then leave to idle for 30 seconds or so then I turn off choke and it idles fine until I touch the throttle at which point the bike cuts out. It’s starts again straight away, but unless I put the choke back on and rev the engine hard a few times it won’t respond to throttle with choke off. Should I have to do this to warm up from cold?
I think you have the bike identified wrong. There was no '14 250X. The '14 250R is fuel injected, and shouldn't have any such problem. If your bike is a '13 model 250X, you may need to clean the pilot circuit out.
